Because All Things Pepper is the sole supplier of CrushGrind pepper mill mechanisms in the US, we have had the opportunity to work and consult with the finest peppermill craftsman in the country and around the world. As an example, our peppermill fininshing process comes from none other than Pinky Martin himself. Mr. Martin contacted us when he was looking for a new mechanism to use in his mills. Since that initial contact, he has been a huge help to us in developing a peppermill finsh that is strikingly beautiful and durable enough to last a lifetime. We can't thank him enough.

Unlike Pinky's mills though, All Things Pepper does not use laminations to build-up our peppermill blanks. Instead, we search the world to find uniquely figued and rare wood blanks that are large enough to use for our mills. While this takes a great deal of effort on our part, the mills that we create are like no other; each a unique and beatiful addition to your home.

We draw inspiration for our mill designs from many sources. Our most popular design is called "The Queen." It is the first in a series of mills designed after chess pieces. The elegant curves of this design make it an attractive mill. When coupled with our rare and exotic wood, it will take your breath away. As more designs become available, we will feature them on our "What's new" section of our company page and the will be added to our mill designer. Keep checking these locations as we are always working on new designs.

As mentioned earlier, All Things Pepper does not compromise on the materials used to make our mills. From the wood to the mechanisms, only the finest materials will ever be used. When it comes to wood, we search the world for unique and rare wood species. Many are hard to find period, but try to find them in the required 3 inch by 3 inch by 12 inch blank sizes necessary to make our mills and it is almost impossible. In the end the work is worth it when you see the result.

A pepper mill is only as good as its mechanisms. We have spent a year-and-a-half looking for a quality mechanism. When we found CrushGrind, we knew our search was over. The problem with most of the mechanisms found in pepper mills today is two-fold.

1. They lose their grind setting. These mills require that the adjustment knob be placed at the top of the mill. This is also the point that must be rotated in order to grind the spices in the mill. As a result, the setting changes as you grind. What is the point of having a adjustable grinder if it doesn't work?

2. They can only grind pepper. The metal used in these mechanisms will corrode in the presence of salt. Not good.
